Day 5 New Year's Eve Plans Canceled

Trish Exercise: None today.
Vince Exercise: None today.

It is New Year's Eve! Our plans are less than par to say the least.

1. San Antonio trip canceled due to weather.
2. Plan B: Friend's party in town canceled due to weather.
3. Plan C: Discovery Green -concert, parade and fireworks. Heavy rain in forecast.
4. Plan D: Thought of country dancing, but Vince's calves really hurt from working out.
Maybe we will think of something before midnight!

Breakfast: boiled egg, green tea with lemon, oatmeal with
organic milled flaxseed and organic vanilla soy milk

Went to Papasito's Mexican restaurant with Sandy.
Ate a salad with no dressing and water.
Took off the chips on top.

Snack: grapefruit. On the drive to Houston from Corpus
Christi, my parents bought a large bag of grapefruits
from a vendor on the side of the road so we have a lot.

Dinner: Calabaza Con Pollo (Zucchini with chicken) recipe.
Healthy, spicy and delicious!

Mix spices in bowl, set aside 2 cups organic chicken broth and
organic corn (although I like it better without the corn).

Saute zucchini, squash and onions in oil (NEVER Conola
Oil due to GMOs.). We use grapeseed oil. Cook chicken.
Throw in tomatoes, chicken and corn later and cook for 20 minutes.

Dinner: side of carrots, 1/2 avacado, soup and water.

Day 4 Five Tibetan Rites

Trish Workout: Jogged/walked 3 miles at Memorial Park. Chilly and windy day.
Vince Workout: Same as above.

Did you know...The Five Tibetan Rites may help to increase a youthful appearance, give you more energy and help you sleep better.

Vince does the Five Tibetan Rites exercises off and on. I don't really get into all that, but after reading the benefits on the internet I just might change my mind. The link is interesting and informative. Some information may seem a little heegie-beegie, but I have heard the Tibetan Rites are a good practice.

Sporting my new winter jogging hat from my sister. We bundled up to run at Memorial Park. Love the cool air, smell of the wooded trees and the relaxation of getting away. A year ago I ran my first 10K, before that my first 5K. Back in the game and am only at the 1 mile level now. Vince and I plan to run a 10K by the summer!

This was Vince when he learned I was going to take a photo of him for the blog. LOL!

Breakfast: 1/2 avacado, 1 boiled egg, organic frozen blueberries,
1/4 cup oatmeal with soy milk and milled flaxseed, green tea.

Keep in mind that 1 minute oatmeal is not the best. One should
eat steel cut oats and cook on the stove if trying to eat the best.

Snack later: 1 small organic apple, water

Lunch: Steamed cauliflower, green beans, broccoli and sweet potatoes.
Side of Alaskan wild caught salmon with spices, water

Snack later: 1/2 peanut butter sandwich on organic bread, 1 small orange, 1 thin
ginger snap cookie (last one!)

Grabbed a foot long Subway Sandwich to share for dinner.
(Not organic bread). Wheat bread, grilled chicken, spinach leaves,
tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles, banana peppers, red onion on one side,
water.

Day 3 Elevation Burger

Trish Workout: Jillian Michael's DVD Cardio 2
Vince Workout: Yoga moves at home and Jillian Cardio 2 DVD

(See Elevation Burger info below)

Bitter sweet moment.
Time to trash tempting left
over Christmas desserts.

Did you know green tea may help prevent Alzheimer's Disease. By the way, Alzheimers is NOT part of aging! I hear so many people state that it is just part of getting old. Wrong. We can help to prevent memory loss by living a healthy lifestyle. Green Tea Benefits/Alzheimers. We drink green tea every morning in hopes research is correct.

Eat REAL FOOD such as organic veggies, fruits, fish, and nuts to help your brain.
Get rid of those sugars and white starches.

Green Teas

Breakfast: oatmeal with cold milled flaxseed and organic soy milk,
organic frozen blueberries, green tea and a boiled egg.

Snack Later: cup of soy milk with 100% cocoa (no sugar added) and yes, 1 thin
left over Christmas ginger cookie. Vince has eaten just about the entire canister
of cookies. He always refused to eat "bad" things with me, but when someone
leaves desserts he has a field day. He can't stop eating the goodies!

Lunch: left overs from yesterday's dinner.
Veggies and quinoa, 1/2 grapefruit.
Vince eating a side salad before his
Elevation Burger. He ate a double
patty. One veggie and one
organic. Too many calories if
you ask me. I ate the kid burger
and was quite satisfied.

Burgers are my weakness! I grew up in Corpus Christi,
"Home of the Great Whataburger!" As hard as I try to steer
clear of the heart clogging greasy mess, I usually find
myself ordering one in times of high stress.

How about a healthier burger alternative? Vince discovered a
burger joint called Elevation Burger. If you must eat a
burger every now and then, this is the place!

ORGANIC, GRASS FED, FREE RANGE burgers or even
VEGGIE burgers are available. No horomones either.
Organic veggies too.

One thing I noticed AFTER I ate
my burger was that you can leave
off the bun and wrap the burger
in lettuce. Next time. Also, the
cheese is aged 6  months and
not processed.

Neat drink machine. All computer
operated. Never seen this style.
We got water of course.
My last year's blog helped me to
get over drinking sodas and Dr. Peppers!

Day 2 The Power of 10 Workout

Trish Workout: Elliptical machine at gym 15 minutes (Corny, but love to pretend I'm running fast!), arm weights. Later, a 1 mile jog at Memorial Park.
Vince Workout: Yoga moves at home and his SLOW weight workout at the gym.

Vince happily ate a slice of left over Christmas zucchini bread as I watched in horror.
Now I want some too. Sure hope my will power sustains me tonight! Will find out tomorrow!

Vince at the gym. I'm so happy he is joining me again.

I totally make fun of my husband because
he lives by this book! One can gain more
muscle quicker by lifting heavy weights
extremely slowly by going only once a week.
Come on! Really? I have yet to see it.

Did you know that a small handful of walnuts has many health benefits?
Check out benefits.. They are anti-inflammatory and can help to lower the risk of blood pressure, coronary artery disease, strokes and breast, colon and prostate cancers. (according to some research). Keep in mind eating too many are not good for you.
Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1/2 avacado
and 1/2 a grapefruit.
I'll admit that the eggs are not
free range, organic. Just too darn
expensive. Important to eat organic
eggs. This means the chickens are
fed organic food, which is better for  you.

I love the grapefruit knife. Vince
taught me how much better it is
to cut each section of the meat of
the grapefruit. Easy to eat.

Quick lunch. Too hungry after a workout to bother cooking.
Notice the Sprouted bread. Sprouted Bread Benefits.
Real peanut butter, 1 small orange, water.

This blog sure has me cooking again! Yay!
Easily done. Just chop up veggies of your liking.
Red onion, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, mushrooms,
carrots, garlic, orange and yellow bell peppers.

Saute mushrooms and onions in olive oil. Steam other veggies. Cook 96% fat free
organic chicken. Mix in bowl together. Had quinoa with it and a pear, but you
can also have brown rice and a great salad with it.
I want zucchini bread. Ahhhhh!

Day 1 The Quest Begins!

Trish Exercises: DVD Jillian Michaels Body Revolution Phase 2 (Biggest Loser) 30 minutes.
Vince Exercises: Yoga moves at home.

Day 1 is difficult! Did my best until 10 minutes ago. Chocolate chips called my name! Although, due to my blog, I passed up numerous desserts today. I know this blog will make a huge difference in my life. Writing it down makes me accountable for all I eat and motivates me to exercise!

Being tortured doing the Jillian DVD. Really works up a sweat
as you do cardio and weight interval training together. These are
my new favorite DVDs. My sister is sharing them with me.
Currently on workouts 5-8 and cardio 2.

Jillian DVD: Number 5 in series.

Running with numerous bags of
leaves. Can we count as Vince
exercising?

Morning vitamins: Krill oil and something for my joints, Vitamin D3,
vitamin C and a daily multi vitamin (compare to Centrum) from Costco.

Breakfast: 1 egg yolk, 1 egg white omelette with organic
zucchini, mushrooms, and white onion. Oatmeal with flax,
organic frozen blueberries (cheapest at Costco), green tea
and 2 cups of water during the morning exercise before breakfast.

Organic cold milled flaxseed. Great for added fiber. Use in
oatmeal, yogurt, smoothies.

Almost grabbed my husband's pills! Yikes!  LOL

Morning Snack: organic vanilla soymilk with a scoop of 100% cocoa
and no sugar added. An acquired taste, but worth it.

Lunch: Steamed yams and organic frozen broccoli. Water

Lunch: Wild caught Alaskan salmon (cheapest from Kroger)

Left over vegetable Christmas tree
that my little sister made. Good
for snacking.

Dinner: Organic Quinoa, organic chicken,
tomato, 1/2 avacado, olive oil and little salt.
Water

Bummed! I lost control and
ate a handful of chocolate
chips. I threw away most of the
left over Christmas goodies, but
not this one. Maybe I should be
allowed to have a few chipies if I
exercise and eat great all day long.
Hmmmm...thinking about it.
Also had a whole grain slice of organic bread with some crunchy peanut butter. Only peanuts and salt in it. No other ingredients.

Amazing when you begin to really look at ingredients on the labels when you shop. Most items have all kinds of ingredients that aren't even food. Almost hard to find "real food" that one can afford! Will continue my quest for real food.

The Night Before Starting This Blog

Time to get healthy for good!

I sit here in elastic waist pajama pants after devouring too many Christmas desserts, too many tortillas and too many sugar ridden snacks to divulge! For those that don't know...I was the queen of healthy eating for an entire year and was a huge fan of exercising as much as I could. (see my previous blog at www.trishastransformation.blogspot.com) After 2 months of ending that blog, I find myself comforted by my elastic pjs at night instead of working out and eating healthy. My energy is low and the motivation I once had has been swallowed up by a hidden desire to chow down on food that will make me fat. In order to save myself from gaining the 10+ pounds back, I've decided to begin a new blog, but with a new twist.

Not only will it focus on eating REAL FOOD, daily exercise, organic foods and avoiding GMOs, but my new goal is to involve my husband in exercising as well. We both could build more muscle and cook better meals again. We are getting off our butts....starting tomorrow of course!  : ) Let the fun begin!

Christmas shoes from Vince and
new warm pullover from my brother.
Ready to run in the cold weather tomorrow.

Vince shopping at Costco for "REAL
FOOD!
